Cooperation in museum education

Museum Studies

The University of Iceland and the three national museums — the National Gallery of Iceland, the Icelandic Museum of Natural History, and the National Museum of Iceland — are working together to strengthen museum education, with plans to develop and publish practical resources for museum educators.

The first step in this collaboration is a nationwide survey, conducted by university students Regína Másdóttir and Harpa Rut Hilmarsdóttir, which will be sent to all museums, cultural centers, and exhibitions across the country. The survey aims to assess the current state of museum education and identify key needs in the field.

This work is supported as a summer research project through the Student Innovation Fund.

There is a strong sense of enthusiasm around this partnership, which we hope will lead to the creation of high-quality, practical tools that will serve museum educators across Iceland.
