Wish stones
Wish stones are said to possess magical powers. In the elves and hidden people section of the exhibition Stand Still and Turn to Stone! – Folktales in Icelandic Art, we will examine a large, sparkling wish stone and learn about the stories connected to it. Afterwards, we will create our own wish stones and decide for ourselves what magical powers they contain.
The Gallery encourages families to visit and view the art on their own terms. We also offer diverse programming on a regular basis with an emphasis on enabling families to enjoy time together in creative ways, whether through live guided tours or custom workshops. All events are advertised specially in connection with exhibitions. The Krummi Kids' Club is a diverse and fun monthly program where kids can learn about the National Gallery's collection, create art, and play in a nurturing environment. The National Gallery of Iceland gives a warm welcome to all children and guardians!
Location: The House of Collections, Hverfisgata
