In the exhibition Multipolar, the artist Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir turns her attention to the earth´s magnetic field. This invisible magnetic field is the precondition for all life on earth because it protects the atmosphere from the poisonous rays of the sun. Rock strata show that the magnetic poles of north and south have been shifting since the origin of the earth and the four cardinal directions we use today, north, south, east and west, are therefore only a temporary phenomenon. How humans experience this inexplicable uncertainty becomes Anna Rún‘s subject matter in a holistic installation of two-dimensional and sculptural works.
