Twelfth Night celebration at the Einar Jónsson Museum
Tue
6. Jan
5pm—7pm
You are warmly welcome to a Thirteenth Night celebration at the Einar Jónsson Museum.
The magnificent Einar Jónsson Museum will become part of the National Gallery of Iceland at the turn of the year. These historic milestones will be marked in the first instance with Þrettándagleði (Twelfth Night festivities) in the museum garden and inside the museum.
Crackling fires and sparkles will fill the garden among the fairytale sculptures, songs will ring out, and hot drinks will flow.
Indoors, there will be an art workshop for children of all generations, where magic wands made from birch branches and moments for making wishes will take center stage, along with storytelling sessions every quarter of an hour featuring folk tales from various countries (attn. in Icelandic).
On Twelfth Night, the boundaries between worlds are open, and everything is possible on this day and night. The enchanting world of Einar Jónsson’s works offers visitors a glimpse into another realm, and the event will be well suited for all generations. Guests are encouraged to enter through the garden.
