Musical performance in Glassrain

Davíð Þór Jónsson, Una Sveinbjarnadóttir and Skúli Sverrisson will appear in a short solo concert where they will create works based on their experience of Rúrí´s Glassrain, which is now on show in the National Gallery of Iceland on Fríkirkjuvegur. The works will reflect the impressions wrought upon the composers from Glassrain and will be composed in real time. Davíð Þór will play the percussion harp, Una Sveinbjarnardóttir the violin and Skúli Sverrisson the box bass guitar.

 

Davíð Þór Jónsson

Davíð Þór is an unusually versatile musician. He has composed award-winning music for films, plays and dance performances, directed orchestras and worked with a diverse group of artists, among them Ragnar Kjartansson. In the past years he has placed particular emphasis on real time composition.

Una Sveinbjarnardóttir

Una Sveinbjarnardóttir is one of the country´s most respected violinist. She has directed the Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra and played with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, as well as with various other concert groups, both locally and abroad. Una has also composed and published her own music and worked with numerous prominent musicians, among them Björk, Rammstein and Bonnie Prince Billy. 

Skúli Sverrisson

Skúli Sverrisson, bass player and composer has been at the forefront of Icelandic musicians and worked with a diverse group of musicians like Eyvind Kang, Laurie Andersson, Blonde Readhead, Lou Reed, Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Sylvian, Megas, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Hildur Guðnadóttir. Skúli is a co-founder and artistic director of the music cooperative Mengi.
