Opening 24 January 2026 – National Gallery of Iceland
Innocent Bodies opens
24 January at the National Gallery of Iceland

The exhibition by Polish artist Agnieszka Polska (b. 1985) is part of a series of video installations that the National Gallery of Iceland has presented in recent years. Her works have received widespread international acclaim in recent times.

In the exhibition Innocent Bodies, attention is drawn to the fragility of existence at a time when the relationship between humans, technological systems, and nature is undergoing profound change. Agnieszka Polska offers a clear vision of how unnatural forces and conditions reshape our emotions, bodily processes, and consciousness.

Seas' Blue Yonder opens on 24 January
at the National Gallery of Iceland

The ocean and the coastline are often central themes in the artistic practice of Bryndís Snæbjörnsdóttir and Mark Wilson. By examining interactions between humans and animals within these zones of contact, the artists explore the intersection of ecological, cultural, and social activity, and show how these forces shape human behaviour and the ecosystems of all species.

The Architecture of Place: Hörður Ágústsson and Donald Judd opens on 30 January

The exhibition The Architecture of Place brings together works by the American artist Donald Judd and the Icelandic artist and scholar Hörður Ágústsson. Through their architectural drawings, the exhibition explores the shared ambitions of two artists seeking to understand and articulate architecture within their immediate surroundings.

From the 1980s onward, Donald Judd visited Iceland on several occasions, developing a deep appreciation for the country’s literature, landscape, history, art, and architecture. Hörður Ágústsson was an artist, graphic designer, and scholar who devoted much of his career to the research and documentation of Icelandic architecture.
