krossgötur : 重鳴り
Fri
30. Oct
8pm—9pm
The performance installation 'krossgötur : 重鳴り' by Masaya Ozaki and Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir will premiere on October 30th at 20:00. The piece is written for Nordic Affect. The performers are Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir on baroque violin, Guðrún Óskarsdóttir on harpsichord, and the composers, who play sound sculptures and found objects. Masaya and Lilja have worked together on several pieces inspired by everyday aesthetics and temporalities in the landscape. Their approach to collaborative composition involves an ongoing creative process where regular walks become a method for creating new pieces.
The event takes place at the Einar Jónsson Sculpture Museum and the entrance is through the sculpture garden. The piece draws inspiration from the building itself and certain themes that the sculptor Einar Jónsson explored in his work. Using the different rooms of the first floor of the building along with the sculpture garden, the piece creates a spatial sound garden experience where various organisms, folklore creatures, and phenomena inhabit different places within the museum: insects at night, ghostly atmosphere, folklore whispers, and new weather sound sculptures in the garden. Audiences are invited to walk around the museum and experience the piece from various perspectives.
The composition is supported by Tónskáldasjóður RÚV og STEFs. Nordic Affect is supported by the Music Fund and the City of Reykjavík.
