|At Twilight - 5.7. - 26.10. 2014|
|At Twilight sheds light on that dynamic part of the day which is neither day nor night, but a space between the two. Through time artists have explored and been drawn to the mystical space evoked in rapidly-changing conditions of light, weather and form. But the transition of the twilight also affects other creatures than humans and Mother Nature; the opposite of sunlight and daylight is night and darkness, when mysterious creatures are about. |
The exhibition is intended to provide insight into the process of research and exploration of Icelandic artists on refraction, shadowplay in nature and the effect of nuances of light on the spectrum of the environment.
The works in this exhibition are all by Icelandic artists, from the collection of the National Gallery of Iceland. Spanning the period from 1900 to 2013, they are by such artists as Guðmunda Andrésdóttir, Ásgerður Búadóttir, Dodda Maggý, Svavar Guðnason, Spessi (Sigurþór Hallbjörnsson), Gerður Helgadóttir, Ásgrímur Jónsson, Gunnlaugur Scheving, Sigurður Árni Sigurðsson, Jón Stefánsson and Þórarinn B.
