The Green Land
Artist Talk and Reception in Honor of Inuk Silis Høegh

You are warmly invited to an artist talk and reception in honor of the artist, on the occasion of the exhibition The Green Land by Inuk Silis Høegh, on Friday, July 4th at 5 PM at the National Gallery of Iceland.

The Green Land (2021) is a visual reflection on a landscape that is at once pristine and unstable due to human intervention and climate change. The work is a 34-minute video installation with a soundscape by Jacob Kirkegaard.

Inuk Silis Høegh, born in 1972 in Qaqortoq, South Greenland, is a film director and conceptual artist who often works at the intersection of these disciplines. He currently lives and works in Nuuk.

The artist talk will be an open conversation between Pari Stave, curator at the National Gallery, Inuk Silis Høegh, and Jacob Kirkegaard.

KRAFS
Open Workshop at the National Gallery of Iceland

KRAFS is an open collaborative project welcoming both professionals and amateurs. The project is led by a loosely organized group of artists from various disciplines. It will take place in the workshop space at the National Gallery of Iceland at Fríkirkjuvegur, from June 30th to July 6th, 2025.

Visitors are encouraged to drop in during opening hours to observe or take part in the creative process. The group’s working method is inspired by the manifesto and practice of The Scratch Orchestra, active in Britain during the 1960s and 1970s. The manifesto can be accessed below. Participants contribute ideas and sketches, which are then developed collectively.

National Gallery of Iceland Museum Shop 2025
Unique Gifts at the National Gallery of Iceland Museum Shop

The National Gallery of Iceland’s museum shop is filled with high-quality, thoughtfully curated gift items. A wide selection is available in the online store, including books, greeting cards, jewelry, posters, and more.

Among the treasures in the museum shop is this beautiful bracelet by Finn Jónsson, one of the pioneers of Icelandic art, who played a significant role in shaping Icelandic art history from the 1920s onward.

To mark the centenary of the National Gallery of Iceland, Finn and his wife, Guðný Elísdóttir, donated more than 800 of Finn's works to the museum in 1985. The donation included silver objects, as well as tools and molds in wood and metal used for gold and silver smithing. Among the silver pieces was a bracelet composed of four interlinked sterling silver plates featuring Iceland’s guardian spirits. The National Gallery of Iceland has had this bracelet recreated.
